2010 Aleksander
The 2010 Aleksander is a wine of intensity, balance and structure, much like the proprietor and two-time NBA Champion Sasha Vujacic. Primarily composed of Merlot from the family's low-yield estate vineyard and blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, this full-bodied Paso Robles wine reflects the region's award-winning, world-class character shaped by long, warm days and crisp, cool nights.
The property's rolling acres are lined with rows of southern-exposure vines rooted in a combination of sand and clay loam. Grapes were hand-harvested, hand-sorted, gently de-stemmed, and fermented separately in small lots with twice-daily punch-down and pump overs. After 30 days on skins, Merlot and Cabernet were pressed directly into barrels and aged 18 months.
Aleksander 2010 is remarkable for its rich component of blackberry fruit, hints of tobacco and dark coffee, and lingering finish of earth and spice.
